All About Pocket Knives

When I was looking at the Mercator "cat 55" or "Kaiser Wilhelm" knives to make up my mind if I would need one of these classic and cheap knives in my collection I stumbled over this strange version of the beast.
The scales are made of pressed wood like Okapi would use it on their knives. thjere is only a "Made in Germany" stamp to find and no maker. Up to now I have only seen one other example in a German knife forum. I wonder if Okapi could be the maker.....

I wouldn't be surprised if they were made in the same factory as the originals. it really is one of those tried, true and cheap patterns.

As it seems Mercator claimed to produce the "original" Kaiser Wilhelm knife but as the pattern was not patented other cutleries made it too. I find the pressed wood handles quite convincing as pressed wood was a speciality of Okapi Solingen.
