Brass vs Steel liners

Does anyone know the approximate era that they started using brass liners instead of steel? Have several knives that I'm trying to narrow down when they were made.

No one replied but I kinda found the answer from MB in one of his posts about Knives before 1960.

In most cases pre 1920.But during WWII knives were made with steel liners due to a shortage of brass.
