I have no idea who made this knife, but there is a clue stamped on the blade. Can anyone recognize this stamp?
It still has good action with a half stop, but a little side to side wobble.
Thanks.

Joe, it looks like it was made in France, maybe the word is "Pradel" under the gun stamp.

There are a few good sites on the web with french maker marks maybe you can find it listed there.

Thanks Dimitri. A little research sent me to "Jays Knives" to see a Pradel that looks very much like my knife. No musket stamp.

To my understanding pradel is a type of knife rather than a brand.https://www.google.nl/search?q=couteau+ ... 24&bih=630

I've seen Pradel stamped on different patterned knives. I just associate it with some sort of french knife. kinda like how some people call soda pop "Coke" even though what they're talking about is not a coke and a better gerneralized term would be Soda Pop…hmm… Maybe that wasn't a good example but you guys know what I'm trying to say….. I'm tired

Thanks for all the help, guys.
Shearer put me on the actual stamp. So it only goes back to 1962 eh. I would have assumed older.
Well, you know what happens when you assume.
I took another picture after soaking it in mineral oil and placing it on that stunning flapjack.
Thanks again guys.

::uc:: Man, I would never have guessed, in a million years, that that knife was only from 1962. ::uc::

I was surprised at the date too, tj. It could be a mistake, but they were pretty confident remarks.
I paid less than $28 including shipping.
