And I'll say it again...the fakes usually sell for more than a real one will. I have put several nice red bone CASE XX 62087 jacks on Ebay and I don't think I ever got more than $75 for one, even mint with nice red bone.

Steve you will have to buy some red felt.
I wound if a seller who sells a lot of knives has someone doing repairs for them.
If you where trading knives and you had a few damaged handles and broken blades are you going to throw them out.You are in the business of making money not collecting.Buyer beware
I was looking at there feed back .If you buy a cheaper knife and give negative feedback you are a bottom feeder not that they didn't descripe the knife properly.

I believe there is a shill bidding mafia associated with several of these guys. Their auctions always have multiple bids 3 or 4 days before ending Steve.

Case 2 blade jacks are a bit unusual when to compared to the industry at large. This is because on many patterns they will place the master blade in front and second blade at the back with pulls facing away from each other. The majority (not all by any means) of jacks industry wide will have the master in back with both pulls facing the same direction. This knife should have the master in front but it doesn't.
I am afraid there is a large supply of long pull FAKE blades out there because I am seeing far to many of them.

That one is real, but it was a contract knife made by Ulster for Case in the 1950's to 60's. Utica made them as well.

True on the jack blade positions and a good way to tell (other than on barlows, 16 and 35 patterns, and 6217).
These Case fakes are a continuation of the fakes that are bring made out of the old Utica/Kutmaster parts, with bone from some other source. Note the cheap grinds and finish on the blades, the garish red bone.

There's a reason toreadors use a red cape to confuse and enrage a bull.

As Case and their legal department ever prosecuted a forger for trademark infringement?

I emailed case about some knives in January. They replied they had a legal team to address counterfeit issues and to report them to the historian Katie Saar. I was just wondering if their were any known prosecutions. You hear of the feds raiding flea markets or stores occasionally seizing counterfeit goods and arresting people. Just curious.

When I was selling my ZIPPOs off, I listed a flip-top lighter as "ZIPPO-like". I received an email from ZIPPO, through Ebay, telling me that I could not do that, as it infringed on the ZIPPO copyright. The auction was pulled, by Ebay, and I never used that keyword again. So it seems that some manufacturers monitor Ebay with programs that search out certain key phrases. Ebay does the same thing looking for descriptors such as "Ivory", "Tourtise Shell", "Switchblade", etc.

Charlie , I read somewhere that a bull doesn't become enraged by the red cape , it's actually the goat that is enraged by the red cape . The bull becomes enraged because the toreador' mistakes him for a goat !
