With this line, and others, notably Canal Street, I am starting to think we actually live in the golden age of pocket knives.

Boy Johnnie those are the finest scales I've seen yet of the Rogers Green Tea. Man you've got a real gem there. Can you tell the Rogersbone is my favorite? That lighter shade just screams OLD WORLD to me.
And the Sheffield Tobacoo is a top notcher too. I've got both comin in plus 1 other GEC that is site unseen so now I really am fired up.
Those are absolutely beautiful.

Those are great knives, I love mine. I did notice that the pictures are named wrong though. The top is Sheffield Tobacco and the light one is Green Tea and they are both awesome.
Tobacco is dark from being dyed in Tobacco juice and the Green tea is light from being dyed in green tea. Did anyone drink the yea afterwards?

I, for one, am elated to see nothing but raves for GEC lately. The "troubles" of a couple weeks ago had me worried, especially after the loss of Camillus a while back.

It sounds like with GEC and Canal Street joining Case and Queen I've gotten into pocket knives at a very good time for American pocketknives!

I guess I can attest to the quality growth of GEC by seeing the improvement in the knives I buy. My first 2 were so bad that I did not know there were half stops. I talked to part owner and president Bill Howard and my knives were fixed and back to me in about a month. We had a good talk and agreed on many points. Since then he has hired a cople finishers from Queen and it looks as if quality has risen and should continue to climb. I was impressed that an owner would take time to talk to a collector. As johhnie said, "they are spectacular" and a good investment, I might add.

I'm still looking for a Northfield Stag in the model 73 scout, the 3 3/4 inch model, for the 2006 tang stamp.

They have started 2007 knives from what I hear, I wonder what models they will be. I would like to see a fine Barlow, one of my favorite patterns.

Well Hukk that makes 4 from Queen thats "crossed the road". One more and it's 1922 all over again.

I usually do this when I first get a new model or new brand of knife. I don't look at first.

I hold the knife under my desk or a table and hold and feel the knife. I feel the shape, especially the weight. Man these felt awesome, these were the first 2 that came out, the red diamond jig and the horsecut. Man my heart sunk when I opened the blades and looked at them. I'll just say they were real bad. I'm glad I did not let that deter me, I need one more knife for 2 complete sets of the 2006 first years release and I have 3 of some handles. I do plan to put Ivory on one of the jumbo trappers, down the road, that knife is perfect for scrimshaw. As for filework, I don't know how easily that can be done, I don't know how hard they made them. 1095 can easily be hardened to Rc 60, about the same as a Nicholson file which is also made of 1095. I guess I would have to use a diamond tip, but I would sure hate to make a mess. But, I will just enjoy them as they are for now, maybe make a display case of maple or red oak, something native to Pennsylvania.

They did a fine job of fixing my knives.
I wish I knew when the 2007 knives will be out, I hope thay have some different knives, a barlow and a whittler would be great!

i got my last knife yesterday, to complete my 2 sets of the first year.I also got a few extras of a couple as well.

The first 2007's will be the same pattern. Tooling is so expensive and time consuming, they need a little time to get a new model set up. But I would expect more very popular patterns to start showing up this fall. They may run a single blade, but the same two patterns for now.

I think we are witnessing the birth of the first original knife company in many years; I hope it all works out great for them. Once you have a great product and consistent craftsmen, about the only way to mess it up is to monkey with the price points. But to talk to these gentleman you can tell they have their heads on straight.

Thanks for the information. I believe that this is a company to watch. In their brief time in business they seem to have addressed QC problems quite well. The quality has risen, the steels are what collectors and users want and the designs are quite good and similar designs are time proven. I did get a bunch of 2006 trappers and I am quite pleased. I had 2 rebuilt and they did an outstanding job in good time. Not an easy thing for ANY new company to do.

You are not going to believe the next handle material coming with the Northfield UN-X-LD. . Put it this way the Owners are going to make sure they have one as well as myself. The knife will be the 73 trapper but I am sure no one has seen this look ever. The name is Primitive and you will want one. Every one of these is going to be unique, none the same. These are going to be HOT.

Thanks GECTECHMAN, I look forward to these new offerings, though I have amassed quite a few. Looking for one more 3 3/4 inch Northfield stag for 2006. Sounds great!

They could pay me in knives and I would be happy. I would also be single, and that would not work for me. So I will buy as I can. I like most all the ones made so far.
