All About Pocket Knives

I can't believe that I just discovered GEC knives,or really I can,but like what I see. Where are they built and how long have they been around?

This was the first run knives just released, stamped 2006.I think there were 15 different handle/ pattern combinations,between the 3 tang stamps. (great eastern cutlery-tidioute -northfield)

There were 15 GEC knives with different handle/patterns for 2006. They are currently working on the 2007 knives. They will have the same Great Easten Cutlery, Tidioute, and Northfield names. I sure hope I see a good old fashioned barlow and whittler, they just aren't the same anymore.

The first 250 knives of each pattern will have serial numbers and any made after that will not be serialized. That's what I hear anyway. I look forward to seeing what patterns they will have.

Does anybody have the 15 variations documented here?

Does anyone have the final numbers? There are some that less than 100 were made, even some less than 80 I believe.

Yes Hukk, #23 Horse cut jigged bone had 80 made.
#23 Diamond cut bone had only 70 made
#23 Northfield UN-X-LD smooth dyed bone had only 20 made
#23 and #73 in the Bakote Tidioute had only 80 of each pattern made

i am a little skeptical about there only being 20 of the smooth redbone northfield.I hope those numbers are correct, as i would own 20% of the 20 count.If that is the true #, i dont know how i got that lucky.

Amen to that, I have 2 of them, so that's 10% but I heard the # 23 PIONEER ANTIQUE GREEN JIGGED BONE was one with real low numbers. I have 2 of them also. I got mine because I was asking about new releases nearly every day.

Well I don't think Perry would have it on his site if he had'nt asked the heads of GEC and I know he and Bill Horn talk all the time and Bill is one of the largest distributors of the line. So I'm goin with these numbers my friends. I'm gonna see Bill Horn today, hes delivering some knives to me,
so I'll ask him.

One of the reasons im not sure,is i saw those production #'s before any of them had been released,and we all know things can change.I sincerely hope that # is correct,but ill wait a bit before accepting them as fact.

Yeah, there may be even less or we may never know exactly.

The final numbers did change a bit. There was some handle material damaged during assembly so they weren't able to make the exact numbers originally advertised. As soon as the exact counts are available I, and likely Bill horn as well, will post them on the web sites.

On a side note, I managed to pick up two Stags at the Shepherdsville show this weekend. Ryan Daniels of GEC was set up right behind me and had bought them back from a customer. He paid the customer 150.00 each for them and charged me the same. All of the knives have sold well but, the stag has done the best by far.

I also picked up two Prototypes with the 2007 tang stamp. They are Northfields (1095 carbon). They're sending me certificates for them and I'll likely put them on the web site.

Also, I just got back from Shepherdsville and my email is down. I have a bunch of replies to send and am not able to at this time, hopefully it will be up by tomorrow.

They also made this little baby in a run of only 21, Bark Moss Green.
Bill told me why they did this but have to talk to him again because I was too busy lookin at the knife and did'nt listen gonna find out though. Northfield UN-X-LD.
