camillus stamping

here is stamping of Camillus in question of identity,no other marking or stamping on blades ,just says Camillus over new York over usa,knife is 3 5/8 closed,thanks

Well, no one knows for sure, including Tom Williams the historian for Camillus who worked there for 30 years.
But it is generally believed that stamp was used from about 1946 to the late 1950s; the most common end date being 1956.

I can't tell from the tang stamp pic.

heres pic of knife,one side has nice golden brown handle other side dark brown looks like bone,thanks for help!!!!!

It looks like a #70 Cattle Knife from the 1946 catalog with a spey blade that has been sharpened down into a pen blade.
There was a #75 Jr. Cattle Knife listed in the 1950 catalog but it had plastag handles, not bone, but it did have a pen blade.

It would have to be a 70, a 75 is 3 3/8" closed.

Hey guys! #70 knife has a Clip main blade!
I think maverick have a modified knife.

Vit_213, I finally found a catalog picture of a 70 pattern Camillus and as you say, it has a clip, not a spear blade. I'm pretty sure that Camillus made a cattle knife with a spear blade however, it just isn't a 70 pattern. By the way, the 75 pattern is also a clip.

The Army, Air Corps Utility Knife in the 1946 catalog is almost an exact match except for the pull/nail nick and bail. (Mine has been re-handled and has a pre-war/WWII tang stamp) Post war changes for the civilian market??

...jerry, just dug mine out-same blades as yours, no bail, rogers bone, big bowtie shield, 4 line stamp on master only(1941-1946)..............

Lack of a pattern number would indicate that the knife was manufactured for military. See JerryD's description.
