R3553 Verification

I have a knife that is missing a pattern stamping. It appears to be the same pattern as another knife that I have which does have a pattern stamp. The knife with the pattern stamp is well worn (and very sharp I might add). It has round bolsters and what I believe to be the older variation of UMC stamping.

The knife with the missing pattern has seen much less use so it seems really odd to me that it would have such good UMC stamps and be missing the pattern number stamp. It also has square bolsters.

2 questions:

1. Is it a R3553?
2. Is it legit?

Many thanks

Yes, its the real deal. That's a later knife that most likely had an inked on pattern number. Those wore away fairly easily.
