I hope that I am first and that I get to keep it as the prize. This a wonderful example of a bone handled FL*****M. Used for blooding animals. Usually spring loaded but not always. Some were used to be struck by a hammer of sorts. Luckily for us, this is OLD technology. Better examples appear to come from England and are of high quality. They command a high dollar. I knew Bill and PA would know. These things make me cringe. I did read that they do / did serve one useful purpose. The inflamation in the feet of a foundered horse could be taken down with one.

Come on Bryan, you will have to find something tougher for us. This is sort of a stump the band thing. WOW, I am showing my age now. How about a photo of a core boring tool or something like that to stump us. Thanks for the fun. I guess I can live without the prize for now. But it is hard.

You can find this knife in the revised 4th edition on page 207, they call it a Fleam. But thank you all for putting this knife on the forum. My friend has one I have been looking for a year to find out what it was. With your help I now know.
