I know alot of you guys love Schrades anything made in the USA it seems. I have used them as work knives for years, I've used them as gifts, the only one I have left is a Schrade USA 8OT are they anything more than a work knife? Click twice on pic. I do have some old Schrades.

I will second Muskrat Man in saying they are my favorites. Yes, most Old Timers were carbon steel rather than stainless although there are some exceptions. Are they more than a work knife? Well they may have been most often carried as a work knife, but Schrade made some beautiful collectible knives as well. And even their work knives such as the Old Timers are becoming more and more collectible with the closing of American Schrade.

Hi, I am new here but not new to knives. I like my Schrades. I am carrying the Schrade usa made 34OT. It has the carbon steel blade and holds a good edge too. It has a little discolorment on the blades. I use it everyday for woodcarving and other light duty things. I have the 8OT also. I have the stockman muskrat 3 blade Schrade + stainless model 897uh which also holds a great edge. I use it for woodcarving also. For the price, at least when I bought mine, they are well worth it. I was sorry to hear that Schrade went out of business. I have a few more of their models stored away for later use.
