All About Pocket Knives

Here's a nice 9 inch Queen my Dad gave me. He got it in the mid - 1950's. The second pic is a KA-BAR I recently picked up at an estate sale. The original handle I believe has been replaced with the wood one your now looking at. The blade on the KA-BAR is in excellent shape though. Bull

Thanks fellas' for the kind words. The winterbottom Queen was a gift my Dad received from his brother in-law. Dad kept it wrapped in a sock in his top dresser drawer. Every so often I would ask to see the knife, he would oblige me, always cautioning me on handling the knife. Always stressing when handing to another to offer the handle first. That may seem like a no brainer, but to a little boy, Dad was teaching me to be safe. I'd then hand it back and he would wipe it down, put it in it's sheath, then the sock, and I had my knife fix for a while. Phil, believe it or not, I love that KA-BAR. And that's the font used on the tang stamp. I bought that at the same time with a Case XX that has some stacked leather rot. I got the Case handle stabilized, but I love handling that KA-BAR a whole lot more. And I have plans for it to be in my elk pack , along side a nice old Kinfolks fixed blade come October 2014. Even with that replaced fir handle that's on it, the knife fits well. There're no model #'s on it, But I suspect it was a WW2 issue. And the owner did a good job with that piece of fir he put back on, it sit's well in your palm. Who knows Phil, maybe with a little persuasion, you may be able to convince me to part ways with it.
