All About Pocket Knives

I hated to see this Imperial Barlow lying around with no hope for use........so I touched up the edge a bit, and put 'er back in motion!

Those old Imperial shell handle Barlows had excellent steel.
It will take a better edge and hold it longer than most of the knives on the market today!

Nice job Scott. I've never re-profiled a blade just sharpened them.

How did you do this? Did you use a grinder or a file?

Yeah, I would be interested too. I have a Buck knife that I broke the tip off of as a teenager and 20 years later I still haven't told my father.

Buck will replace the blade for you. One of my buddys gave me a Buck 055 for Christmas a few years back and I broke the tip off doing something stoooopid (I knew better). Sent it off to Buck along with ten bucks and it came back good as new.

That's a real good job there Scott, mighty fine.

I had to redo a blade for my son the other day. It was on an old Frost trapper that my father had given him. Dad had broken the clip blade, years ago almost to the nail nick. But using the trusty belt sander I was able to make it into a neat little drop point main blade.

I'll post some pics tomorrow when he and the knife get back from being spoiled rotten at my parents house!

Apparently I was horribly mistaken. It's a Klein, made in Japan knife NOT the Buck that the tip is broken. It's been through a couple of generations so far and would like to pass it on to the daughter even though it's not a 'valuable' knife.
