All About Pocket Knives

One of my favourite sellers on Ebay had those Solingen made knives for sale. I was particular keen on the scout knife but liked the folder with the gnarly stag as well. The seller put the little jack knife on top of it when I won the bid.
Apart form the "Made in Germany" there are no other markings to be seen on the scout knife. It´s in unused condition though.
The little hunting folder has wonderful stag on it but unfortunately two fractures near the nail nick. I suppose it broke in the hardening or quenching process. Too bad but I won´t use it anyway... It is marked with "Solingen Cutlery Germany" and "Three Ring Cutlery Solingen" on the blade.
I was assuming the the little jack knife had cello handles but while polishing it I realized theat they are made of bone. It is marked "Garantie Solingen" which means simply "guarantee Solingen".

Yes, I don´t know what it is about scouts knives that floats my boat, I even wasn´t a scout!

I love that scout too The Garantie is something I've been trying to find more about. I've posted this WW2 bring back everywhere trying to get more info on it. Do you see many of them over there? I have to say the 3 ring slimline is a real beauty

I will look for a scout that has the same type of can opener and stuby screwdriver. The Bulldog scout is the same except they have match stryker nail nicks. Perhaps the maker put some out with plain nicks?

@Wazu013: As it seems there were a lot of straight razors made under the name "Garantie Solingen". I am not sure if it was a company´s brand name or just a generic brand of a wholesaler.

@tendots: Yes indeed! I had email contact to his wife and they seem to be very friendly. I guess they have an antique shop and are right at the source in Solingen!

A few days ago I´ve got another parcel from Solingen. This time it contained a very nice congress knife made by "Ralf Walter Büchel Solingen". Büchel´s brand existed from the November 28th., 1930 to December 4th., 2001 when the brand name was officially deleted. I have no idea when this knife was made but as the stamps are doubled up it might be a reject.
I have added Büchels brand label too.

Thank you Basser! They are Elke and Raymond in fact, but you´re right, they are very freindly folks indeed!

Here´s another generic Solingen pocket knife I have found on german Ebay. Nothing special but I like it anyhow. It is 4 1/2 inches long closed.
