I picked up this Barteaux machete at the flea market this month.

While researching the Barteaux company I found mention that the Barteaux machete was used in Vietnam.
Does anyone know about the US Military use of Barteaux machetes during Vietnam?
I have read they were a private purchase item and used in Vietnam. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this?

In a militaria forum I found reference that Barteaux machetes were mentioned in Cole’s Book 4 at the top of page 17 and in Trzaska’s knife notes #10.
I did find Barteaux machete listed in a list on Trzaska’s website, but no info on it other than the name. I have limited success using his site.

If anyone has Cole’s book 4 or can find out anything on military usage of Barteaux machetes please post it here.

Thank you,
Dale
