Deer seasons here my favorites are Olsen,my grail a Marbles and a Anza given to me by my brother.So what's your favorite fixed blade for Deer season?

dogg, For many years I have used a Case 516-5 for deer/bear. The blade is similar to your Marbles. To me, this is the ideal deer dressing blade.

Thought there might be more participation on this topic that garddogg put up . Still 4 or 5 weeks till deer season starts in this part of Florida, but when it does I'll be totin' an ol' Queen #39 folding hunter. Just never got the hang of a fixed blade for deer . Got some fine fixed blades, Case, Queen, Western, Olsen they just don't ring my bell.

As a 14 rear old, on my first deer hunt, toting my Granny's Model '94 Winchester 30-30 and my Daddy's Marbles 8" hunting knife on my belt, I felt I was ten feet tall. I shot my first White tail on that hunt in Southwestern Colorado and field dressed it(with a little help), using the Marbles. I now have that old Marbles in my gun safe. It's steel must be some special stuff for in all the years it has been in this family the blade never shown rust or corrosion. It holds an edge of razor sharpness and is still my choice for the "On my belt" companion. I've killed hogs (domesticated), skinned several deer, elk and pigs, cut willows for kids and grand kids whistles, cleaned fish and small game, slivered pine for kindling and never had a question that it is my life long choice for an all around hunting knife.

This photo is similar to my knife and it's sheath. At this time I do not have a current photo of my Dad's (mine since 1986) Marbles. Sometime in the past the knife sheath was badly deteriorated, and Daddy made a new sheath to replace the original. He had a saddle shop in Payson and a "registered" saddlemakers's stamp which he used to stamp the sheath. This was at least 20 years ago. As to the origin of this knife, if I remember his version, he bought the knife in Aspen CO in the '30s when he went from Arizona to Aspen for his Daddy's funeral. I will take some photos soon and add them to this post.

Can't access my pics right now, but for the last few years I've carried a fixed blade Schrade USA X-Timer drop point on my belt during deer season. It's got a fat textured rubber handle and a heavy thick blade....not the best for field dressing but works well for general woods use and makes a good skinner. Of course carry the Old Timer 125OT for field dressing chores when I'm fortunate enough to harvest a deer!

Keep in mind that I haven't hunt Deer in years but at the time my fixed blade was a Buck 119. Most of the Guys at my camp worked at a butcher shop so after you field dressed your animal and dragged it to camp we would hang it for the rest of the week, weather permiting. Then we would work together using Dexter Russell knives to pack them up for the short trip home. We had a regular outdoor butcher shop that was pretty cool. Of course if it was to warm then I'd husstle my animal to work and hang it in the cooler after skinning it with Dexter's skinning blade. We also processed deer for about 100 other hunters and made some quick cash. Those were the days

Now we got some interesting stories comin' in! Good stuff fellers !!

Yes sir Mr Treefarmer and some really cool stories Old Gar I can't wait to see the other pics as Marbles has been my grail knife but the Olsen is the one my Grandpa carried.It takes me hours to decide whichknife to bring Mike I'm with ya on the 125ot GREAT knife

Thanks for noticing, Jerry ! Perhaps you recall a short time back there I was having some computer issues....well they snowballed and before ya know it I lost all internet access all together, had to sh*%tcan the laptop once and for all. Now I've gone and abandoned the world of laptops altogether and gotten myself a tablet...so I'm back on line again, but still working out the picture thing...

You need to hurry and kill the deer that's rubbin' all the bark off that tree before he kills the poor tree ! Then use that good lookin' Case to peel his hide and show him he shouldn't be tearin' up the trees .

We have one more week before modern gun season opens here in Ky. I'm hoping to be able to get out there some. Here's my fixed blade deer hunting knife that I got from AAPK member and knife maker Jason Fry a couple of years back. It's still waiting on a chance to dress its first deer. Hopefully it won't be much longer......

I like that rusty old Browning beneath the knife.

The Olsen I have was made in Howard City Michigan by my Aunt, there is no # on my knife.
I have another one that was her husband's, my Uncle that has been well used.

by your Aunt cool mine has no anything on the tang,Gramps said it was a 500 series custom Kodiac
