All About Pocket Knives

This old A. Kastor "Clover Brand" was a shell handled knife that Scott sent me last year.
The shells were shot - and how do you find new ones for this???
The knife was made pre-war (1941, as Goins` has it) at the Imperial factory.

I made the liners out of .032 brass stock (old ones were steel and had the little embosment
to accept the tab for the shell) and added the NS bolsters. Then I covered it with Culpepper's
"Black Cherry Amberdeen" from their discount bargain bin.

This is the first Camp/Utility I have ever done - it's got some interesting spacers to off-set the
blades for clearance...

I like it Joe & also like the info on Imperial never knew that--I have read that they were making shells that early but have no early examples of them---

I do loves me some Culpepper and that pattern was an excellent choice for the knife. Great job.

And if you lose one of them or get them in the wrong place.......

I think I lost a spacer in the first camper I did. I think the parts are still in my shop in a bin & still unfinished.

so I could put It back together! You guys see the lil spacer in this pic?

I intentionally didn't buff the knife cuz it had that old time look after just sanding it.
It IS marked as a re-handle.

Very Smart Joe, I didn't think of that the first time
Now I take pics if they are more complicated like a camper and I usually trace the knife out on graph paper and annotate it with the pin sizes and any other noteworthy info.
In doing that I have discovered that the pin sizes have changed on some knives through the years of production.

Joe that is some great workmanship, running the jigging into the bolsters as you did.It does give it the appearance of an older knife,more so than the choice of bone.Kudos on your work,that is right up there with the best of them.
