All About Pocket Knives

This should be something rare - I found an old Kabar on the German Ebay! I don´t think that this type of knife is partucular rare but to find one in my homecountry won´t occur too often.

If I remember that correctly this 1108 should be manufactured by Camillus around 1990? The handles are Delrin and the blades have lot´s of patina and could use some TLC.
I already love that ol´ stockman more than my shiny ones.

Hi Jerry, closed lenght is 10 centimeters or about 4 inches.

After a bit of spit and polish the Kabar doesn´t look like new but a lot better. I think it´s good to leave some of the patina on the blades as it shows that this little stockman has
been put to good use in it´s years.

It just looks a whole lot like a Camillus 69. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to find out your Ka-Bar was made by Camillus.

No gimping (jimping?) on yours? Does yours have nickel silver pins? What about the liners? Brass or nickle silver?

Hi Jerry, the little stockman has nickel silver bolsters and pins and Delrin handles.
I suppose it was already made by Camillus.

What is "gimping" on a knife?

See the marks on the liners? That's one example of gimping (jimping?)

This is gimping on a fixed blade knife.

Ah, I understand! It´s like filework on the liners. No, unfortunately there´s no gimping on this Ka-Bar.

They dropped the jimping on the Camillus 69s at some point in their life cycle so your Ka-Bar is probably one of the later ones.
