All About Pocket Knives

hummm.... the blades have been fixed.....sorta. they now have opening swirls on the tangs. looks like they were opened hundreds of times...not factory mint.
the shield has been set properly.
they replaced the handles(the jigging was not complete) with new jigged handles. mark side with shield is satisfactory but has buffing material imbedded, hopefully i can clean.
the pile side(which was incompletley jigged) is worse than before. looks like they did'nt cut deep enough.....very shallow.

all in all...crap. FIRE THE QUALITY CONTROL PERSON!. the knife should have been near perfect when i bought it and definitely when returned to me after repairs. i have four of their knives and not one of them comes close to queen, shatt&morgan or canal street quality.

i'll have to think next time before i spend my money.

Excuse this but how hard is it to get the jigging right on the handles cmon, not that hard. I think you're right Johnnie, fire quality control and start again. It looks like they were tryin to devine what you would like. Just make the knife right guys!

i have some serious doubt they will be a around this time next year-

i just received mine today -a bakote wood-its not a well made piece at all and couldn't cut butter-

now im afraid that sending it in will just get me a more dysfunctional knife-lol

a customer should have confidence the issue will be fixed,not wonder if he will even get the same quality back or worse

i disagree rosconi, you should send it back to attention bill howard with a short note explaining the problems. it's the only way to help this new company improve. i will wait for some new patterns and buy again.

on a side note: if you have'nt bought any of these knives and inspected them, you ain't got much to say.

I'm happy with the two I got!! The smooth bone is perfect.while the Horse Cut does have the faint indentations on the pile side bolsters...Nothing I can't live with!!

johnnie, i sent it back because the spey blade would not open or close on it's own. i mentioned the incomplete jigging and proud shield. they repaired the blades great. they inletted the shield perfectly. i'm sure they replaced both handles but the pile side jigging was cut too shallow. i can live with it. i think they are doing the best they can. so, no i'm not returning for a second time. when i buy more great easterns, i hope these kind of problems won't exist.

i am happy for the most part with all four of mine. maybe i expected too much.

Sorry Johnnie, I have been on the fence too many times, about to purchase
and then hear something else. So I am concerned. I want them to do well but waiting for things to change a little first.

hey perry, i want them to succeed as well. all their knives are sold out so that should help. buying knives online, unseen is a crappy way to buy knives but some of us have to. honestly i would'nt have bought all four if i had a chance to hold em in my sweaty hands before purchasing. i know i won't lose money on mine but that is'nt the main reason i collect. life goes on.

jonet143, try hitting that compound with some wd40. Seems to loosen it up enough to where a towel can pull most right out.

i think we are bitching because we dont want them to fold -
most collectors have pride in american made knives-so we are screaming in hope that they listen and start getting it together-

if we let them slide because they are new it wont help in the long run because they will continue to be sloppy in production and qc-

i had a new walden schrade usa made by bear&son-they dont have the greatest rep-but for 20$ it was heads and tails better than my gec-and the wood finish was great-

Well one things fer sure. They will go up in value being first run and all. I guess I wish I had the balls some of you others had to go ahead and jump on it. Oh well, you guys will be laughin all the way to the bank.

jonet143 if this ever happens again try WD-40 in your Water-Pick and pressure wash it. Trust me it works too. It really gets out all the polish goo too.

Must taste awful though!!!!

ken used his water-pik for cleaning knives but his wifey said it tasted real bad!

Just wanted to let you guys know that the wife and I where at Great Eastern today.Everyone from the owner, to the girl that waited on us was SUPER!!! I got three #73 scouts and they all are outstanding.I told them to start making stockmans and whittlers and they plan on it plus lots more.The factory walk through was really nice.I,myself....will buy more.
