Another Yellow Case Trapper question.

The attached photo shows a Yellow Case XX Trapper I picked up at a yard sale for .50 cents. Tang stamp has the long tail "Case XX" with 5 dots. Appears to be near new, other than a couple of nicks on the rear bolster. One odd thing about it. It has no brass pins on the scales, front or rear.....only the big one at the center bottom. Any ideas why? It's the same on both sides.

.50 cents?????????????????????? man, i need to be shoppin with you. i have no idea about the pins but if you want, ill double your money on the knife....lol j/k. all kidding aside, looks like its in great condition and im sure case would replace the pins for free for you.

This is a great candidate for a trip to Bradford. Case will fix this up to look like a brand new knife. I sent them a slim trapper that had extra pin marks and they rehandled it for free. (And tore it apart and completely cleaned it and left the 1976 blades in but made it look like a brand new knife.) Sweet deal by the way

They're in there,,just sunk in deep. Looking at the two i have side to side they are both the same as yours. I wonder why??

I talked to a very friendly man named Jim at the Case factory. He said send it back and they'd take care of the problem, no charge.....so it's on it's way. I'm anxious to see the results. Nice knife to begin with, and it can only get better!

The lady told me that the pins were there, they were just "recessed very deep". WTH? Why in the world would they do such a dumb thing? It leaves a perfect place for gunk and stuff to collect, plus it is very "unbecoming" of a Case product. She explained that that was the way they made their knives in the early 90's. Quite disappointing, to say the least. I expected more from such a well respected company Why? Who knows, but I can assure you that when I get it back, THERE WILL BE SOME BRASS PINS where there ought to be! I'll do it myself. Some epoxy, some brass nails of the correct diameter, a buffing wheel and some judicious hand work, THEN it'll look like it should have when it left the factory. It ain't a collector, it's a user....and I have certain things in life that just bug the hell out of me. And, obviously, this is one of 'em!
