All About Pocket Knives

I picked up this old Gutmann Hen and Rooster Tuesday night at the knife club meeting. It's the first older (pre Frost) Hen and Rooster I've ever had and I must say that is a very well made knife. I don't know much about Gutmann... when they were manufactured, etc... So if you guys have any info on them I'd love to hear it!

Goins' Encyclopedia mentions that stamp beginning in 1947...and continuing until his Second Edition in 1998.

Houston Price shows 1947-1997.

Bertram was owned by A. G. Russell for a few years (1975-1980), before bankruptcy forced closing.

Guttmann was an importer in New York.

I don't know much but I do know that the Pre-Frost Hens are very desired among the folks who collect Hen & Roosters. The quality is probably excellent and I would love to put that one in my knife drawer..

Thanks guys . A fellow knife enthusiast told me (without seeing the knife) that he thinks it was made between 1950 and 1974 (my guess is the early seventies).
Roger - 50/2050 all three blades snap like bear traps . I will try to get a shot of the back side up tomorrow.
