Does anybody know why I cant find this in the price guides?? Its a case over xx on one side of blade with 52131 on other....with the Indian canoe etch.........sorry will post pictures later...thanks.

One major problem I see is that the knife is stamped stag and has bone handles. But this may be what you are asking about.

How can you tell its not stag???

That handle does not look like stag, perhaps bone or even delrin. You can test whether it is bone or delrin by sticking a heated pin into the handles. Delrin is synthetic and will melt. I posted a picture of a Case in stag for example.

There are many problems with that knife. The main blade is not a Case blade, can't really tell from the picture if the back blade is or not. You really don't need to pay any attention to the stamps 'cause the blade ain't right to start with. Again it's hard to tell from the picture but if the frame is Case it's from the late 70's.

That main blade came from another very poor fake, I've seen several like it on a different frame and with stag handles. That's likey why it is stamped 52131.

Johnnie is right, Case didn't do the Indian etch until 1974.

Another big item to remember is that you won't see an XX era Canoe with Bone handles. Some folks say a few were made but I've never seen a real one.

knifekid is right, the knife is counterfeit. the blades arent right to begin with and the stampings arent right and the jigging on the handles isnt right. the shield on the handle is the only thing that really looks authentic to me but it looks like it came from an 80s model.
