All About Pocket Knives

Last week-end I went to a bushcraft knife training course put on by one of our local family run outdoor shops. A fellow by the name of Doug Getgood was teaching it. He is a very close friend and consultant to Les Stroud (Survivorman). This guy was a pro with knives...carving, notching, and cutting techniques... and had a few of these 'Morakniv' from Sweden. After seeing what he could do with them I picked one up. It's the 'heavy duty' companion model, 3.2mm (1/8" roughly) thick carbon steel blade...very reasonably priced, and solid. Next month I'm taking his next course where we will be going into the woods with our knives for some survivor training. Does anyone else have any experience with these knives? cheers

MORA make probably the best high quality low priced knives ever made. I doubt that you could ever beat their combination of price, quality and durability. Don't use them for a pry bar they aren't full tang. Somebody x-rayed all the various models and the longest had a 2/3rd's length tang. They are very securely molded into the handle however.

I refirbished, sanded, oiled and poly'd(one week process) the handle of a 7 inch mora scout knife and I had a chance to use it this weekend hiking and camping. Very impressed with the steel under hard use. Used it for everything and it did not lose an edge.
