All About Pocket Knives

Hi...someone just posted this in my area. I don't know a lot about fixed blades and the guy only says that they are German Solingen knives, 60 - 70 years old. This is the only picture, it's a two hour drive to get there, and he hasn't returned my call yet...

For those of you with a keen eye...if you had to bid on these from the picture, and not much of a description, what is this collection worth? He's looking for best reasonable offer.

He also says the two 'sais' on the left are not included...not sure if that was a spelling mistake.

Yeah.....I think it's worth a go.

You can play PAWN STARS with him....start with a reasonable offer of $75.00 and see what he comes back with.

Without a return call, I would stay home.

More likely made in the 60`s or 70`s and not 60 or 70 years old.X4 .

Good question Lawrence. I guess it depends what he would be willing to part with them for. Two hours is a long drive, so at least you could say that you would only be willing to drive that far if he would come down on the price. It looks like the second from the end is a Grohmann D H Russell knife from Nova Scotia (it looks like the sheath is there too, but it is placed to the left of the 5th knife from left, but I am not positive). Ask him if he could read you the stamp on it. Its a $70-ish knife if it is in as good shape as it looks. Hope this helps. Alternatively, it is a german or US made copy of a D H Russell, if so it is worth about half that price.

I'd wait for a call back. The skinner second from the right is a Grohmann. They make Russell knives in Pictou N.S. Good knife worth in the $60 range.

Thanks for the comments guys...he hasn't returned my messages so he's probably waiting for someone to send him a bid. It's on kijiji , so it's not like ebay where commitment is monitored...I don't think I'll pursue this.

As mentioned before the Russell belt knife is a good one.Looks like he has two German youth knives(one has a missing shield).Even if they are late issue they are still good.The big stag handled knife is a keeper;I have an identical one marked R.J.Richter and they are a handful.The other stag handled knives look good too.Who cares about the shish kebob kewers;they're worthless anyway.
For a two hour one way drive I'd offer him $75 and see what happens.Worst he can do is say no.
