All About Pocket Knives

Just got this in the mail. The tang says KaBar/Olean, NY. It is 4", one blade. Blade has strong snap, and very sharp. This is a clean knife, all I did was oil it. Wood handles. I carried it out to the farm this morning. I really like this old knife.

Does anyone have an idea as to date it was made? What pattern is this called?

The handle profile suggests to me a Loom Fixer (half-hawk) but the blade is wrong for that pattern. Although (your picture is out of focus and makes it hard to judge) the blade could be a well sharpened Loom Fixer blade but then I have to ask, where's the secondary blade. I don't know enough about them to know if there was a single blade variation made.

As for age, I would guess 2nd half of the 20th century but a guess is exactly what that is.

Jerry, It is definitely a single blade knife. This is usually not my style of knife, but I really like this old knife. It has a good fit & feel both in hand and pocket. Very sharp.

Scott -- Yes, it's part of my pile. I had a second one but swapped it for some knife work. Case made some but they go for more than I want to spend. Rough Rider has some out now but I can't bring myself to put any money in one.
