Anybody know what the heck the #23TL is all about? Something that I've never seen before.

Until someone corrects me, I'm going to guess the TL stands for Thumb Lock. This is what they have to say about it and for anyone who hasn't seen the pictures of this unique new pattern, I'm posting pictures from the GEC web site.

"#23 TL
We are having trouble naming this new pattern, if you have any ideas and would like to help us name it, please call or email Chris with your suggestions."

HitchLock.........since it operates kinda like one and a slang term for thumb is 'hitcher'

So are you saying that it opens normally (and locks somehow?) and when you want to close it, you push the lever up? I see GEC's website has been updated with more information but it still isn't clear to me exactly how it works.

Yepper. Open it like any knife and it locks like a lockback but to close it push up and forward on that lever. The lever is attached to the back spring, cams up and lifts the back spring up releasing the blade like would happen when you push down on a lockback release. I hope that makes more sense.
