All About Pocket Knives

I have a Remington stockman with an unusual tang stamp on the master blade. It is the "script" with the line underneath and no "UMC" on it. It's in the circle with "MADE IN U.S.A." around the edge. One guy told me that this is a Dupont period stamp. Levine's seems to ID it as a "contract knife" and not worth as much as UMCs, if I'm reading it right...

The smaller blade has the normal block letter "REMINGTON UMC" in a circle.

What's the story on this stamp?

The contract made Remington's had a "Remington" in script with NO circle, just written in a straight line, they are often called "straight line Remington's". The Remington made knives had the circle regardless of the way the words were written inside of them.

According to Goins, this stamp was used from 1933 to 1935.
