I believe this is a 1979 Shaw-Liebowitz 278 with SS blades. Please confirm.

Also, I noticed that there is the word "PROOF" engraved on the secondary blade tang, mark side.

Not trying to make the knife something it is not but did CASE use the word "PROOF" in the 79' timeframe to indicate a "proto"? I realize any idiot with an engraver could have done this.

Pretty knife either way. Thanks, Jerry

In this instance I believe you're correct in that the word "Proof" may have been how S-L marked the knife before presenting it to Case for approval. I would, however check with Katie Shonts-Saar The Case Historian, to verify that.
