All About Pocket Knives

Usually, i am a larger knife man. More like a 4" Stockman, Buck 301, Scout or even a 72 for my EDC.

BUT: I have been reading about the Peanut in another forum and liked what I read. It is sharp, and a very good looking knife. I picked up 2 at the Central KY Knife Club show and really like them. So, I ordered 5 more - coming in the mail.

They are small, but will handle most any cutting need. Fits excellent in the watch pocket. Is a good 1st knife and even better 2nd knife with a larger one in another pocket.

So, what are your thoughts on the Case Peanut? Care to show some on this site?

Here are the 2 I recently bought. One is a 1998 and the other a 2002.

The Case peanut is a very cool little knife. I carried one for some time as a second knife and really happy with it, its a great knife for every day small tasks. It can be found with a variety of handle materials and blade steels. There are some newer ones with slanted bolsters that are cool looking.

I've never thought about one, but you've piqued my interest.

Mr. Rick...every knife collection needs at least one Case Peanut! Here's my two, a '74 and a '72...I've carried the yellow one quite a bit since this pic and it now has a nice patina to it.

Out of small knives the peanut is one of my favorite patterns. I like them. I got a few from the 1980s from where I collect Appaloosa and Satin Rose bone Case knives and the peanut is a cool little knife.

Ken -- Like you, my preferences for carry run to the larger knives, 3-1/2" to about 4" closed. But where the rubber meets the road, when I wore a younger man's clothes, I carried a Schrade 108OT for years. The Schrade? 2-3/4" closed. The Case Peanut? 2-7/8" closed. You'll seldom run into a task a small knife can't handle if kept sharp.

Hey Marine - thanks for sharing. Tomorrow a friend of mine has an appt at the VA, I am going to keep him company, my 2 Peanuts will be in my pockets. Semper Fi Brother.

First time I have seen a Case USA shield like that

WJ - super looking knives. I really don't collect Peanuts - just having a run on them for fun. They are a neat looking knife and great to carry. I may try an 087 Jack. Thanks, Ken
