All About Pocket Knives

I have done allot of research on this knife and can't find it.

It is a nice high excellent to near mint 1975, 6250 Case Sunfish/Elephant Toe. Most notable are the scales. They seem to be Bonestag or Second Cut stag. Also the knife has scrolled bolsters and filework on the main and pen knives. Filework is also present on the inner liner and backspring. The blades have some minor scuff marks on them, but the blades seem to have the original edge on them. I also don't know if the knife case with rabbit fur inserts is original to the knife or not.

Can you give me any info on this knife? Do you recognize it? How many were made? Who did the modifications, Case or a secondary knife maker? What is its value?

Any help you can give me will be very much appreciated.

This was a wooden handled toenail originally which has been customized (quite well I may add) . It is difficult to place a value on it since it is the only one in existence , but I would venture an estimate of $200 - $250 .

It sure is a nice one. I fiddled with the pic a bit, and look at that color in that nice stag. Man that is some fine file work.

That stag reminds me of an angry sky at dusk, really nice.

The knife is awsome looking and the file work looks factory produced. Everything flows and is smooth as baby skin. When I look at the pins - they also look factory, thats why I was wondering if Case did this knife as something special.

I am not a big fan of customized knives, but that knife sure is beautiful. Great stag and file work.

Most times I've seen "aftermarket" file work or handle changes, it only takes away from the original condition selling price. That said, this is very very very nice work. Like someone said, it almost looks like it was factory done, although I have never heard of Case doing file work on their knives, even for a custom order. I would guess that it would sell for about 3/4 of what the going price of a original bone handled sunfish is currently selling for on Ebay. Unless you find someone who just has to have it.
