Knife Disassembly

I saw in an older post here where what looked to be a sheetrock blade was inserted between the scales and the liner to SEVER the PINS for disassembly. Seems like a good plan if the pins are soft like brass. But what if the pins are steel, will this method work. Or do you then grind the peened pin heads down carefully and then hopefully pry apart , if not glued also ?

use as thin a blade as possible on brass or steel. a utility blade works as well. check out some more of those posts.
