major help for newbie ::doh::

hey guys it seems u guys know alot about what your doing so i was wondering if you could give me a little help i just got these two old beat pockets knives one being a case and one being an old shrade switchblade which i have herd to be rare? i dont know if that is true, anyways they arent in very good condition at all and i was wondering what i can do with them and help would be very apreciated thank you

I don't think I would do anything to them. They are really in pretty nice condition considering there age. A little gentle cleaning and lubrication is all I would do. That Case looks like a Tested era.1920-1940. The Schrade is before 1958 as that was when they were made illegal. A great many collectors prize both of them. If you are looking to sell them you'll probably hear from a lot of us, pleading and begging for the first chance.

When I said a gentle cleaning, I mean using a Q-tip clean out any junk out of the inside. I would'nt clean with anything more agressive. Welcome to the site b y the way. You will find a lot of super nice people here, and a lot of very knowledgable collectors here.

thanks guys good to here i have a few nice peices, just wondering KNIFENUT how do you identify the age of a case knife

The Collector's Guide to Switchblade Knives.

sorry justold52 she not for sale anytime soon but just out of curiosity how much do you think my shrade is worth, i just got into knives and collecting recently so its good to here that i have something nice

welcome to the site Inzane. As mentioned before, I would do nothing more than clean out inside with a q-tip and give them a good coat of oil and put them away or sell them. You have two VERY nice knives there and I would be honored to own either of them (hint hint)
