All About Pocket Knives

I got 3 Great Easterns in the mail today, all are excellent quality, these walk and talk, blades close right down the center, snap crisply in the half stop position, snap open and close. All are real beauties, but I just had a little time before I go to the shop, so here is the Burnt Stag . The lines on the back of the clip bade are just that, me being in a hurry and not wiping the oil off well before taking pictures It's just oil. Excellent quality! GotTa Run!

Fantastic looking knife you have there Hukk, I really like that one a lot As nice a knife as I have seen a manufacturer produce. I would be very proud to have that beauty in my knife case..

In talking to Bill Horn, ALL the stag knives are just beautiful. I'm getting some nice knives, so, I'm starting to look with a much more critical eye and I'd have to say that the knives I'm receiving are worth more than what I paid, possibly 15 to 25% more. With that in mind, I think it is an excellent marketing strategy for a new company. Get the knives out there fast, they sell out within days of being released and get them in collectors hands.
With the exception of the first 2 knives, quality (fit/finish) has ranged from slightly above average to near custom.

Now back to the first 2 that started the post "My Great Easterns", the quality on those were sub standard to GEC's standards. I talked to Bill Howard (one of the owners) and have received excellent customer support so far from GEC, my first 2 knives are being repaired. So, getting a pair of bummer's was not necessarily a bad thing.

It gave me the opportunity to speak with Bill Howard who told me in a telephone conversation, "If a customer has a complaint, generally he is right", which is a direct quote. How many owners would take the time to talk to a collector with a concern? I did send the knives to Bill Howard and he did look at the knives. So, with that we learn that GEC really does stand behind what they sell and want their customers to be happy with their products. Two thumbs up for customer service, they know that this is important for a new company and have certainly showed that to me.

I got this knife from Bill Horn at http://www.cumberlandknifeworks.com Bill was very apologetic about the first 2, he told me he would make sure another knife does not go out like this and I told him that it wasn't his fault. We both agreed that these were a mistake and very unlikely that someone would get 2 let alone one.
I have purchased knives from Bryan and from Bill Horn and both are great to work with.

Seems like Bill has a lot of customers buying knives at this time, all at once. Good guy to work with and I enjoy knife talk with him. He's a busy guy.

I've got one big thanks to Bryan's Knives for this Great Eastern model 73, it's going to make one nice EDC!!

Hukk, just looked on Bill's site and that large view of the GEC stag its
awesome. They really do have some of the best burnt stag IMO.
I guess I'll start saving up.
