All About Pocket Knives

I received this knife today and am pretty pleased with it. Sword Brand on mark side and four-line Camillus on the back, the punch is stamped "Spiral Punch". Brass liners, nickel-silver bolsters and shield. The handles are the deep dark brown composition and are in great shape with no shrinkage. The main clip and the spiral punch both have half stops but what's left of the spey does not. Knife has decent walk and talk. Not much clean-up necessary. I guess I'm calling it a Cattle Knife.

[album][/album] The leather punch is great. Never seen those before so it may be a patented design by Camillus so check into finding the patent # and it will help determine the type of knife and the use. Looks like a stockman with the addition of the patented "punch" replacing the "Sheepsfoot" blade (usually paired with main blade). The "Spey blade on one end. Your leather punch is where the spey usually is and the spey is where the sheepsfoot generally is. Included below I attached a photo of a "Sword" brand Stockman model #883 by Camillus.

The blade configuration is the same on both the Stock knife and the Cattle knife. If the frame were "serpentine" I would say that you are correct, but this knife has an equal end (cigar) frame, which according to the 1946 Camillus catalog, makes it a Cattle knife.

Your knife has slip joints and is for light-duty with no locks. Stock man style are middle-sized and have straight handled and sowbelly versions. They sometimes come with as many as five blades. A clip-point as master blade but the other two blades could be any of the following: 1) Sheepsfoot, 2) Spey, 3) Pen, 4) Punch. The blades are in different configurations giving the owner the ability to use a Stockman knife for varied tasks.
