All About Pocket Knives

Can anybody put an age with this knife? Is it new (current) or old/vintage?

I don't know much about the knife but I like it.It is a sweet looking knife .
I do know all the new knives I have saw from them say Kutmaster on the tang,so I say not new.

Thanks Scott. No one seems to have much information on Utica tang stamps. Just not very popular I guess. I know that the Kutmaster stamp came into being in 1937 and eventually replaced all others, just don't know when "eventually" was.

Oh well, I missed it. Would still like to see some input on Utica Cutlery though. They did, and maybe still do, make good knives.

For whatever it's worth, some of the current production knives once again bear the "UTICA" tang stamp rather than the Kutmaster mark.

Thanks Phil. I've seen them and they are using the oldest, arched stamp on their new knives. Just wonder when they did finally phase out the Utica stamp in favour of the Kutmaster stamp???

I've wondered the same thing and have yet to come up with an accurate answer. Maybe we'll find out "eventually".

I have two, what I am considering WWII era Uticas with the straight line UTICA stamp. Calling them WWII because of the steel frame, liner, bolsters, pins and bail. So then, if I am correct, they were still using the straight line stamp up to at least 1941-42. The "Feather-weight" trade-mark is from 1933 and the "Kut-Master" from 1937.

That is a new fantasy knife, made up out of Kutmaster 1950's era parts from the Utica factory.
