All About Pocket Knives

I picked up a Kutmaster Utica N.Y. bone muskrat nice old knife looks alot like a Remington. On the main blade it is etched Blake & Lamb. I did my usual research and found out that Blake and Lamb made game traps and other small items. I think this knife was made around 1937 if you have more on this please post.

The Kutmaster trademark, at least according to books, was registered in 1937. I dont believe that it was used much until after WWII.

All of Utica's pocket knives were made with the KUTMASTER trade mark from after WWII until the present time.

If your knife has a genuine bone handle, it is most likely 1950's to early 1960's era. At some point in the 60's, they switched to imitation bone. The muskrat is a relatively common pattern with the KUTMASTER stamp.

Doesn't have the Blake & Lamb blade etch,so yours may be an early one.

Thanks Ron for the pictures. Levines fourth has some info on Blake and Lamb, but not much. My knife is some different than the ones you pictured, the regular muskrat you pictured looked to be a nice knife with bone handles.I appreciate all the help.

Top to bottom,Challenge "Johnny Muskrat",Schrade Walden" Improved Muskrat Knife" and 3rd a Schrade Cut"Dailey's Skinning Knife".

Those are nice! I need to dig mine out for a photo shoot. The muskrat pattern has always been one I liked, even though I don’t hardly ever carry one.
