My first GEC folder question

Hi,

I am a brand new member of this forum...

I am about to pull a trigger on my first GEC folding knife, and I am trying to decide between the #72 Mini Lockback or the #73 Linerlock. Which GEC locking
system is the more smoother and reliable? I have read some of thier lockback model are extremely stiff.
Thanks

the 72s were noticeably smoother with much less opening friction. quality of both patterns is excellent but 23 & 73s are stiffer to open. as far as locking sustems i personally think the liner lock is simpler to construct but every bit as safe if not safer. many vetern users do'nt consider a lock necessary on a folder but it certainly does'nt hurt.--HiPower

like HiPower said, __both lock-up tight and both are reliable__ the #72 is easy open, with little to no resistence, with a tight lock-up__the #73's have a much stronger back spring thus, stiffer opening, but lock up is strong***__ I EDC both ,but favor the #72 for a work knife, because I use my knife lots during the day cutting string, tape, cardboard ect. ,__ I carry the #73 ,when off___cause I like the drop point blade_____both are awesome knives, ______ I'm 62 years young, ::hmm:: the spring use to not matter, but it does now ::shrug:: ____JMHO_________________good luck,Monk ::tu::

below are my EDC's (top)-- 72 Lockback and Protech Auto, for work ___ bottom is my #73 Scout that I just enjoy ::tu::

I carry a 72 in my right pocket and a 73LL in my left. To add to what was said above,..the 73LL seems to be a sturdier knife to me, maybe because you don't have that little bit of up and down play you usually have with the 72. That said, I love both of them.

If the #72/#73 decision gets too difficult, grab a #42LB...... ::nod:: ::tu::
