An odd request in progress

Apparently this old case toothpick had some sentimental value. Both handles are broken, and the blade was a "toothpick". I was asked to make a damascus blade for it and to rehandle it in stag and reinlay the case shield. Definitely one of my more unique projects. Here's the blade all roughed out almost ready for heat treat. I made a stamp to do the pull, worked out pretty good and looks a bit more professional than the dremel pulls I used to do I think.

The stamp looks good, fit looks good, nice knife. My old eyes do not see any damascus though.

I am sure MM has his own way of doing this, but thought you might like to see the way one Damascus steel maker suggests you heat treat and etch his blades. http://www.alabamadamascussteel.com/ser ... te=privacy

All done, went with a bit lighter stag for good contrast with the dark blade I'm very happy with it

Nice work Kaleb.

I have a question; what would cause the large light colored area on the mark side blade ?
