Liner Lock or Slippie

With the new Hounds Tooth coming out in LL and half stop version I was curious what folks would prefer and why.
I've always leaned towards lock blades or LL's in knives that I might have to lean on a bit. Hounds Tooth at 3 1/2 closed .....can't say I actually have a preference

Aside from the added safety of the LL, they do add a little weight and width to the knife, which is never bad on a 3.5" piece imo. I see the LL looks similar to GEC's other LL's........and my concern is that the lock tab is placed a little ways behind the tang, no biggie on larger knives, but wonder how it will operate on the shorter #55. My modded #56 that was built by MM has the LL tab near the tang and operates very well, hopefully the #55 works as easily.

In a traditional knife, my personal preference is definitely slip joint.

I have one Wharnie 55 in stag in hand and a second on the way. Nice FIRM stops (with a half-stop). I don't see a need for LL's in this sized knife.

i tend to agree with the other guys; i do like the l.l. on the pioneer since i've done deer with mine. if a fellow is always careful a lock may seem unneccessary but i've boned deer on mountain sides so some haste was desired.--HiPower

For deboning any large game I would think a locking or fixed blade would be best. Since the OP referenced the #55 my comments are limited to that knife, great knife that it is.
