All About Pocket Knives

Does anyone have some info on a certain CAT' 4-blade?
Here's the description:
*2 3/4" mother of pearl handle w/ sterling silver inlay with initials engraved
*there are no serial numbers on any of the blades- all that is stamped on the base of each blade is the company name and location
*one blade has a double sided fingernail file w/ tiny knife edge for cleaning under the nail
*two blades resemble a tiny stiletto shape
*one blade (the biggest) is a standard pocket knife shape blade
*inside body or chassis of knife and connecting pins are sterling silver as well
*lockback mechanism and blades are steel

You did pretty well describing it, but I don't think I would be any good to you without a picture. I assume by lockback mechanism, you are talking about the back springs? Is it a slender knife or is it kinda wide in the middle?

Yes, they are backsprings and it is a slender knife.

I am wondering about the year of production, possible value and any other tidbits of info on this knife.

In short... I don't know.

But... as I always do, I can speculate and b.s. a little if you care to read on.

It's an equal end or senator pen with no bolsters (obviously). The lack of bolsters would make it a little less valuable than a like knife with bolsters. The closest pattern that I could find in any of my refference material is a 40663. (Same blade configuration and handle material, and no bolsters.) I found that in Ritchie and Stewart's Cattaraugus Cutlery Identification and Values. They have a price of $210 in mint, but that is from the 2000 version which is outdated. Usually these price guides overestimate value as well, so I don't know how much help that will be to you. If the engraving is an after market thing, that would probably hurt the collector value. If it was done by Cattaraugus, It would probably increase its collector value.
