All About Pocket Knives

Hello everyone. I am new to this site and need some help. I found this old store display in my dads shed, a few weeks ago and have cleaned it up and I am wondering if there is a site or info on what knifes were in this case. I think its from the 30's or 40's. I have a few remington knifes, but they appear to big to put in the display. Case holds 24 knifes. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Nice case, I have one just like it, it holds pen knives and nothing longer than a 4 1/4" frame or the blade in the open position will hit.

No list that I know of, Remington made hundreds of different patterns and handle combinations, so every case held what ever the dealer wanted to display

Ok thanks again, I'm I right on the age of case? I have been looking on ebay since you told me it held pen knives, and have noticed not many listed so it may take awhile to find some to display in my case, also noticed the prices in my display range from $.60 cents to $1.50.

Remington was in business making knives 1920-1940, then they sold out the cutlery division.

So you are right in the ball park on the age of it.

That is a nice find. I can't wait to see what you put in it.

Added some of my knifes to the display, only 3 are remington, have a lot of work to do on filling this with Rem. knifes. Thanks for all the help.

Is the board that the knives are on wood or is it covered?

Thank you. The board is painted orange, no cloth. It would look good with cloth if you dont have the original back board. The clips are handed but I don't think you would need them as long as you cut the bottom round grove for the knifes to sit in, since the board is placed at a angle.

to good. The groves were so narrow in the case they were hard to make. Was you father

Thats a Remington Dupont display, Dupont didn't enter the picture til 1933, so that helps narrow the age range down a little. Those are my favorite style of Remington display and I've got at least 5 of that paticular style. Underneath the hinged back storage area was a label that was added when the case was made that the dealer could write in what pattern of knife was displayed along with wholesale price and retail price. Some of mine were left blank, others have been filled in. I can post a picture from a Remington catalog that shows that display full of knives, that might give you an idea of what patterns you're looking for. The values for the displays have been rising steadily for the past few years, I've been seeing them sell in the $ 400 range as of late.
