All About Pocket Knives

I have this knife with an arrow symbol looks like a case arrow shield could someone please help identify it. And possibly give me an idea of the value if anything. I am adding a couple pics maybe they are clearer. And yes it is engraved on the arrow shield with an M. Knife measures 4.5 inches closed. Front side of knife is lighter than the backside.

The picture is too grainy for me to make out a tang stamp or see the shield. Any better pictures?

That looks nothing like any Buck knife I have ever seen or heard of.

Did we both look at the same photos?

That knife was not made by BUCK,USA.
It dose look like the Case shield some what.But lots of com used that style of shield over the years.
You have a great looking knife and if you can git some good pics of it and a tang stamp for us someone will help you, I'm sure of it.Love the knife.

Is that a "M" on the shield?

I am going to take a couple more pics and see if they are any clearer I hope this will help someone tell me what it is exactly. the knife is 4.5 inches long close and if there ever was a tang stamp there is not one now that I can see. Yes it is an M engraved on the shield.

That is a good looking older knife, beautiful bone. I have no idea who made it though. I would have thought that by now you would have had some replies speculating as to it's possible origins?

bigstringer -- I suspect the pictures taken with your Kodak EasyShare C613 are coming out "fuzzy" because they are out of focus and they are out of focus because you are not using the "Closeup" feature on your camera.

Below is a page from the manual for your camera indicating the proper settings for taking in focus close up pictures. If you have questions, please ask.

I don't know about your camera but most will give you an in focus preview before taking the picture by pressing the picture taking button down halfway for a moment before pressing it down all the way to take the picture. Try it. You'll like it.

Edit: BTW -- After enhancing the picture and making it a little sharper, it appears that may not be an 'M' on the shield. The jury is out waiting on a clearer picture.

My guess is a Valley Forge #0938 Folding Hunter. 1892-1950, aquired by Boker around 1916. After Boker aquired Valley Forge, the backs of the blades were stamped with a "VF" inside a circle.

WB -- Is the knife you're proposing a lockback? 'Cause if you look at the second picture from the bottom in the last post with pictures, his knife is a lockback.

Yes the VF 0938 is indeed a Barlow style "lockback" folding hunter. Same mid-lock, same arrowhead shield and same clip blade.
The break will be a short one, but just had to get out of the shop for a spell. A feller can only take so much!
