All About Pocket Knives

Hello, All!
I want to share a little about my Remington stockman that was my grandfather's.


It displays a shield not shown in the Remington Shields page of this site and, as you can see, it has stag handles.

Anyone have a similar Remington from this era, by chance? (circa 1932)

is that the 3503 pattern or the 3493?
although the value of yours is well beyond any book value, i am sure you find a couple of those knives among the group of people here.

The main blade is stamped R3056. -It's stag-handled, and thus indicated by the "6."

Stag, Reverse

I do have one, although the main blade is a bit short. Remington didn't use up a lot of stag on their knives and its quite a treat to posses one.

there is a picture and description of that pattern in the book of remington knives past & present by stewart & ritchie. but that knife has squared bolsters.
is the picture is misleading, or are there two bolster versions of that pattern?

Mine has the rounded bolsters.

I hadn't thought much about it since receiving it from my grandpa a number of years ago.
I have enjoyed carrying it (very securely!) on occasion.

That really is a beautiful knife. I suppose that could be described as a premium stockman with all the nickel silver and stag.
I've got an early Remington jack with jigged bone and brass liners that is a real favorite of mine.
Yours is a true treasure and a family treasure at that. Good for you.
