All About Pocket Knives

I just got back from a lady's house . . . who had a little collection. I bought a couple knives from her . . . now they're mine! Buy in bulk, I always say. I'm pretty excited right now, poring over these little beauties . . .

I thought I'd share them with you.

My personal favorites are the Damascus Buck (top right - my dad used to give me Buck knives when I was a kid, so I have a place for them in my heart) and the stag Congress (top row, about middle).

Thanks guys . . . yeah, it's not often you get to add 41 knives to your collection in one fell swoop! And I agree . . . those Marlin Spikes are nice and minty . . . two of them are 1970's too . . . a nice year!

gotta say that I like the "fish bonker" knife....that's the technical term.

I'm beginning to think I need to start a real collection myself.

Isn't the "Bonker" a Puma?

Yes, it's a Puma . . . is it really a fishing knife?

Fish knife? does it look like this with out the hook sharpener?

Just wanted to show what a fish knife looked like to the NEW members.

Thanks for the pics of the fish knives. I especially like the 2nd one.

The puma in question, however, is a big, long, silver folder with a big metal ball on the end (it's near the upper left - next to the bulldog - in the original picture).

Didn't the knife double as a scale for weighing your catch and the bonker was a counterweight?

I notice you got a Case Sidewinder in there. Those are hard to come by, and when they do they're expensive. Nice score.

Now please don't tell us you you paid $250 for the lot...

I think you are right, if it is the Puma I think it is. IIRC, it has a very sharp blade on it too!

that is a "stunning" fish knife for sure. i wonder how accuratly it weighs

I have to disagree. It can't be a scale unless there are some other small weights to use for counter weights - and accurate measurement ----or am I completely wrong?

I still think it's a fish bonker...grin - and I agree it's an awesomely unique knife.

There are notches in the top of the blade with graduated weight marks, that take the place of a sliding weight. It's a bonker, AND a scale.

Well looking at what you got, I'd say there's at least $5000 worth of knives there so I'm sure you still did very well.

Oh - THOSE notches....right above the etched text that says, "weight in lbs"....my wife is apparently right, I AM AN idiot.

Leave it to a fellow Canuck to point it out to me too.
