Scrade Knife Set

A friend of mine has a schrade kinfe set called "Cutlery Classic" set of 5 bone handles knifes with the blades etched" Farmer" "Miner" Fisherman"Lumberman"Rancher". Was wondering if anyone knew how many sets were made and the approximate value? I think they were made around 1985. I would appreciate any information on these knives. Made in the USA.

I don't have that set, but I think there are a couple members here who do have it. I believe it was called the Tradesman series.
Someone who knows more about them will be along soon & can give you some more info.

Dale is correct about the name. The Tradesman issues were actually from 1981 I believe, and there were 5 different ones, which you have listed.
You might try posting this in Knife Lore, as you may get more folks who gravitate to Schrade collecting, to view it over there.

I have a set and I do think they were made in the very early 80's. It consists of a single blade liner lock Trapper etched "The Miner"...a three blade stockman etched "The Farmer"...a Muskrat etched "The Fisherman"...another three blade Stockman etched "the Rancher"...and a two blade Trapper etched "The Lumberman". The shields are also stamped the same as the blade etching and the bolsters are serial numbered. I "think" there were 6000 sets made and they usually bring 300.00 to 400.00 a set.

Thanks, That is a lot of help. I was curious about the number of sets made as they are #d on the bolsters. One set has 5 numbers and is in the 80,000's. I didn't think they would make that many sets. One set is green bone and the other is red bone. Do you know if they made 6000 sets of each color?

All of the sets I've seen just had brown or reddish bone handles, I don't think they made any particular color and there were 6000 total. If you look at the serial number on the bolster it should start with a letter "B" followed by four numbers.

That is probably a B instead of an 8. I don't have them with me but I am sure you are right. One set is definitely green though and the other reddish brown as you mentioned. Thanks for all of the information.
