All About Pocket Knives

Shown is a four blade "G. Grafrath" lock back sportsmans model from the 1950s. Dating from 1869, "Gebr. Grafrath" was a well respected German cutlery company which unfortunately went out of business in 1961 and was acquired by "Kuno Ritter". "Kuno Ritter" (Hubertus) continued production of this model but with slight differences.

It's not hard to see the resemblence. Nice knife!

VERY VERY nice old knife you have there Mason!!

Here is my Red Stag /4 model Hubertus. This one is a 2577/4......raised bolster model.
I got mine from a seller in Germany last year and here is a letter I got with the knife. The seller
had contacted Hubertus for help on identifying it............


"Dear Mr. Olliges,

Your Gräfrath hunting knife I have in a pattern book from 1939
finding made as an attachment figure below!

Hubertus 2577/4
Catalog illustrations from the 1950s attached with a similar model 2577th
The suffix "/ 4" describes the 4-piece version of this knife.
This knife model we continue to manufacture, but with
changes:
The shape of the solid nickel silver grip jaws is changed,
The blade is marked electrolytically in a different form and execution
etched.

Both knives are considered by collectors to be very rare, because hunters
have usually used their knives, while highly stressed.
In mint condition, these old models hardly raise
be.

These are fantastic knives and I was kinda surprised when mine arrived.......LARGE Knife!!!

Thanks, and it was a fairly common pattern style with many German manufacturers.
