Floating Fish Knife

Just came into possession of this one....one side with proper increments for the "honest fisherman" and the other side with more generous increments for the "dishonest fisherman"! Blade is marked Stainless Steel Japan, and the box says Our Own Import, Japan. Anyone have any info on this knife or who made it? Have one like it? Any idea on approximate year of production? Kind of a cool novelty piece anyways..

I found one trade mark for an Our Own Import Japan. I have no idea if this is the company that produced your knife (or had it produced with their name).
There was no trade mark image available. They had their hands in a lot of different stuff though.

Wow ! Talk about a blast from the past, that knife just gave me one. My twin brother and I had one of those knives in our shared tacklebox back when we were kids in the late 60's. I'm not absolutely certain, but I believe we got it at the local Western Auto store.

My dad was a south eastern regional mgr. for Western Auto back during that time period 60's-70's. I'll have to ask him if he remembers it. Maybe he could shed some light on it?

Here's a floater I've had for years. It's 10" long with a 4 1/2" blade that has a wave pattern etched on it. It's a pretty well made little pan fish knife

Actually the steel is pretty decent on them.I also did a post back in May in this forum about my collection of,"floaters" which are folding and fixed blade knives made with cork handles.For those interested you may want to check it out.EDIT: The original post was done on December 18th 2007 and was titled,"Some Floaters"

Just fished this unusual one outa the bay. The handles are cork. Stainless steel blade, liners and spring. Stamped “ITALY” on the mark side and “INOX” on the pile side, 4 inches closed length and 1-3/4 inches wide, with a bail to fit.
The whole thing is very light weight. Half stop, with a strong closing snap. I don’t think it’s ever been resharpened, maybe never used, but I’m guessing it’s old.
Bought it as a Christmas gift for our fly fisherman youngest son.

Those are cool don't think I have come across either of these in dads stuff. Ken the cork handle is cool also.
Definitely don't fit into the Fish knife of Toothpick debate.
