i use small wooden skewers, matches, toothpicks and flannel with a little oil or flitz. the wood rubs away most rust and stains without being too aggressive.

I used dental picks to get the built-up pocket lint and gunk out. Sometimes a brass brush or a nylon brush will work too.

Howdy Perry.
I'll guess you'll get several different answers...most all of them workable.
In my quest for cleanliness, these are by far the best I've used. They are foam...so leave nothing behind like Q-Tips or swabs might...won't scratch like a pipecleaner may...can be sprayed/soaked with WD-40, mineral oil, Breakfree, whatever, to aid in cleaning the liners, lock bar, or pivot area.
Available at Beauty Supply shops, several brands in different containers...plus there are good looking babes there as well...

I'm with Johnnie on this one only I use Kel Silicone and put the tube on it and do a power wash after I use the toothpick. I like those El Lobo, I bet I will cause some snickers after I left the beauty shop Gotta get some of those, they should be excellent to wipe down the inside of the liners

those makeup applicators are very handy, i use them to apply renwax inside and in tight places, as are the new style nail buffers. they come in all grits from very abrasive to almost paper. perfect for cleaning and polishing. i get my wife to pick em up. oil and compressed air will blow out a lot of gunk.

I usually scrape out any gunk inside, give it a good washing with warm water and soap, then I dry it and blow the inside out with canned air, then clean inside with q-tips dipped in oil, oil the pivots, wipe everything down inside with oil to prevent rusting of the springs from the inside, oil the pivots then rub a coat of paste wax over the entire thing blades and all. The pastewax seems to create a good barrier from tarnish and discoloration. I usually simichrome the bolsters before I apply the wax.
