What seems to work best to get a clear, up-close photo? I have a good quality digital and also a good 35mm.

Hey cloudy, Welcome to the site. I am relatively new as well to knife photos but I have learned some from members. Don't need a flash,
shoot out of doors under a patio covering or in low lighting, so not to get any blade glare. Its all trial and error and finally success. Hopefully

Good Luck.

I would like to see Jfarmers set up now. I fell he was just moved up in photos a lot.
If you need to hold a knife form sliding down. I found a strong magnet works well behind the cloth or cardboard.
