Ben Hogan lockbacks are out!

These are simply a locking version of the previously well received Ben Hogan. The acrylic Tidioute came today and is something different from GEC. It is translucent and really lights up when the sun hits it. Check it out:
Whatcha think guys????
edit: I should've wiped the dust specks off; they are a little oily from the factory and crap just sticks to 'em.

You'll like it Dennis.

The lock-up is very secure on this model; the few I've handled have zero play when open. My only gripe with it, and it's a petty one, is that you can see daylight under the lock button when open/closed. I think it is due to the thin profile frame, but there may be other clearance issues. That's why I don't build 'em, just use 'em.

I don't care for that either. It just doesn't look right to my eye.

Though I'm not sure yet if it'll keep me from getting one or more.

I think the Ben Hogan frame would make a great English Jack with a long spear and add an oversized pen blade.

Well I said it was a petty gripe, and it definitely wouldn't keep me from buying one (or more). I've noticed this same thing one some other makers knives in similar patterns. I believe it is a clearance issue, but I'm not sure.
I've got a Coffee House Acrylic on my desk that I've been playing with; it opens and closes with authority and locks up super tight. I'm really liking the pattern.

I'll try to wait till the Northfields come out...but thats a nice looking acrylic...
Seeing daylight under the lock lever is not uncommon, I've several knives from different makers that are the same.
Like Barry said it has to do with the function of the lock and tolerance's.

I'm excited about the Northfields, especially anxious to see the Pheasant Feather acrylic, but GEC will have the usual gambit of handle materials. I'd like to have MM do one in mammoth ivory for me!

I'm with you Earl; I like the Ben Hogan etch on the Tidioute.
I'm lovin' playin' with this knife. I put a little "Quick Release" oil on one and
MAN!!! It opens easily with a solid click, and closes like a slip joint when unlocked. These knives lock up
SOLID and they walk and talk! I can't put it down!!!!

That stag is off the chain Earl. (That's a high complement.)
Corvus that is a shockingly beautiful knife. Congratulations.
