All About Pocket Knives

I was unable to find a page here at AAPK dedicated to just the barlow style of knife. As the barlow knife is a well loved design I thought you might have a favorite you would like to share? Here is a LAKESIDE CUTLERY CO. made for Wards pre-1929 by Challenge Cutlery of Bridgeport Connecticut.

I learned something. I have a slick old Lakeside ebony handled jack knife.

Hey Beechtree, here's my 2 favorite Barlow knives. Although it was hard to choose between all of them I have.
New York Knife Co. and newer Northfield with Wharncliff main.

This is a hibbard spencer & bartlett "OVB"
And a Marbles # 5

For me it's this old workingmans knife the Imperial DE.

Here's one of my favorites(bottom knife):A Colonial Barlow with a screwdriver/wire stripper secondary blade.Have yet to see another one.

My favorite to look at and fondle...Schrade scrimshaw fox barlow My favorite when there's some heavy duty work needs to be done....Case XX stainless, this one will take your finger off if you're not careful!

I only own a few, but this one is my favorite - I like the combination of an etched spear blade, the jigged bone handle, and the engraving style on the bolster.

I've shown this elsewhere but it is my absolute favorite: a Queen/Dan Burke with D2 steel.

I have one of those, marked 'Luka State Bank' on the handle. And, I got outbid on two separate Electric Mate's this weekend.

Odd blade barlows seem to have become my collectable favorite.

Some nice barlows here. Thats an interesting New York Knife Co. that you have there singin46, I like the double headed arrow on the bolster. And I really like that Queen Quick Steel, she is very fine. Thanks Philco, I don't know how I over looked those. And now, more reading fun!

That Cripple Creek is real nice Jim. When does that date to?

Here's a few more of my favorites:
A Kutmaster Utica NY that had the pen blade broken.Ground it flush and cleaned it up for a great EDC.
A Camco with the center liner extended and punched with a hole;presumably for a ring.
A Camillus Tip Top that has one bone scale and the other side wood(a replacement).Still a good EDC.
An older Ulster.
Second pic:
A Kent NY City with unusually grooved scales.
An I*XL with jigged bone scales.
A Russell with a sheepfoot master blade.Really nice except for a small crack in the pen blade.
An unusual small Barlow single blade marked Swan Works Germany.

All the preceding barlows are interesting. Vikingdog both those Schrades are sweet. Knife7, I like the variety you have in your selection. Very nice.

here are three of my favs. one boker, a tidioute grandaddy that was put togther with authentic tidioute parts by vern atkins, according to david, [ paknives], and a scrimshaw with complete filing work done by sam mcdowell. the mermaid looks like she's been in the water much too long.

Hey Chet that is one cool lookin' Mermaid knife! I'd be showin' that one off all the time if she were in my accumulation...interesting secondary blade on that one too, sort of a drop point spey blade...very nice.
